Frown Honing Advice

I am a relative newcomer here. I'm at the point where I can hone blades in reasonable shape to shaving sharp. I've done this with a few E-bay razors. I have 2 bay razors now with slight frowns. I checked the wiki and noticed lots of good advice on smiling blade honing, but none on frowns. Is the best way to "breadknife" the edge and start over on a 1000 grit to set a bevel, or is there some remediating stroke involving differential pressure that works without breadknifing? Is there another alternative that I haven't thought of? Thanks in advance for any help.

I have found that honing with the spine slightly off of the hone or if it is only slight maybe starting with 3 layers of tape to be a better alternative to breadknifing. As you progress remove a layer of tape until you get to removing another. When you are about where you want to be either stick with one layer of none depending on your preference. That is my routine in that situation now, or with large chips.

+1 with Jimmy, I keep the spine above the hone uintill the problem is fixed.

No, and no ability to upload any. I'll try the taping suggestion.

Go with what Jimmy said, works well...

Try page 24 on this PDF download. The method in the PDF works well for smaller frowns, and will also help to avoid them.

I am sorry to say . I think you guys missing something on your advices. i would agree with Jimmys taping idea but i think using1 layer of tape. Not trying to be rude just cannot understnd your solution. 1 is. if frown in the middle of the blade? how in the world you will lift up the back of the blade and hone that blade? if frown was in 1 side of the blade in the tip or heel that would help a little and you have to do precision job to fix the problem. The easiest solution i think is using the tape. I have send OP about it. GL

I have this same issue as well for a different reason (not my fault, lol). I'm wondering, you put the tape on all the parts of the spine that correspond to parts of the edge that are below the frown right?

I just tape the spine from end to end IME.
