New and need assistance

My gf recently got me a simple kinda starter straight razor set.
It included:
-Dovo 5/8" full hollow ground razor (in my sig)
-Full volume pure badger brush

-Super shave mug for large soaps

-World famous Glycerine shave soap

All of these goods were purchased from the knifecenter.com and were very nicely priced, came packaged well and arrived very quickly, so I'd recommend this site to anyone else.

I used it twice now after watching an instructional video from this site (which was very helpful). I've understand the whole shaving part of this but now I need to figure out how to maintain the razor.

So from what I've read, I now know I need to get a strop and/or stone to keep the razor sharp.

Well I have no idea as to what strop and/or stone or even a technique to sharpen the razor.

If anyone here could give me some advice as to what I really need and maybe a link or something so I know how to use it.

Hold onto that girlfriend. You've got lots and lots of options. Even sources of information have certain popularity here. I recommend you PM Tony Miller for a strop and visit classicshaving.com. You can get a nice strop there and you'll see a link at the bottom of the page called "How to and why". Good starting resource.

I may have gone too far with that one. The Futur is the size of a putter, the Vision is like a sledge hammer. Fun razors but still not the thrill of a straight.

Well I've order the 4-sided strope, with .25, .5 and 1 finishes. I hope to be using it soon.

You've made a good purchase there. At some point down the road you might also try a coarser paste like t 3 micron, but between the 1 and 0.5 you should keep a nice edge. The 0.25 is luxury but don't overdo it. Happy Stropping.
