i like the idea and i am sure it will work great. Try to hone it out .I am sure you wont 100% accurate but you will be 95%.

I just encountered a similar problem with an R. Heinisch Sons razor. After checking the spine width with a micrometer, my remedy was to rehone the razor sans tape starting with a DMT 325 and intentional finger pressure on the spine.
The result was the high spots on the spine are now much closer in tolerance to the rest of the spine and the bevel is basically even along the blade's length. It is certainly better than it was before........
I was able to pop some armhair off the 1k.
