I honed something and it actually felt like a razor afterwards.

Ok, just to share my excitement about this. Last week I bought a old german junkshop razor that wasn't anywhere NEAR sharp enough. Now friday I got my Belgian stone in the mail and tried to hone the thing and when I used it on my face I actuallt got a clean shave!! For the first time in my life!!! So 2 firsts for me.

1) I actually honed something to a shaveable sharpness (it really isn't all that hard I found...I'm sure the meisters could do better but for now it's good enough for me) AND!!!

2) I got a shave with a straight and it's like everything I hoped it would be...damn my cheeks were nice..My girlfriend couldn't stop touching them......now all I need to learn is to do my throat the same way and I'm happy.

Congrats... I'm still waiting for my new purchase. Decided not to touch the Pakistani any more and just temporarily switch back to my Philishave lol

Good for you! Sure Lynn could probably do better, but you did it yourself and got a great shave. Now that's satisfying. You'll only get better edges and better shaves as things progress. Is that the blue stone or the yellow coticule?

the yellow coticle with a darker side on the bottom. And You're right about the pakistani. I left that one on the shelf for a while as well. My Mach3 did a better job.

Oh the Pakistani does a decent job shaving, it just irritates my neck a lot, which is still less irritation than a disposable razor lol. Fortunately, my new baby may get here as soon as tomorrow, so I will be able to catch up with you and also benefit from X's experience.

Already started. I donated my pakistani to a friend of mine together with a cheap brush, shaving soap and soap container. He's excited. I promised him I'd get him a better one when I have one to spare and gave him www.straightrazorplace.com as a reference.

Lol. My Pakistani will only see use as a learning prop, unless one of my friends pisses me off. This would be the perfect way to deliver revenge with a smile :D

I know I know...but like I said...don't have any to spare just yet.

Its kind of like cooking. The food you cook yourself always tastes better.

I agree with your wife. I love when someone other than my wife cooks for me. :D :D

I'd put up with mediocre food if someone else did the cooking (and the dishes). However if I do get married, I'm shipping my wife off to Serbia to be trained in the culinary arts by my aunt. In that case I'd also have to upgrade my home gym so I don't turn into something resembling my dad lol.
