Jimmy has a bunch pf Eschers with different colors and says that the difference is speed not finish quality, Jimmy please correct me if I am wrong.
As far as price it depends on the size, and possibly the color.
I got my 5x2 x 7/8 for 300, and the 6x1 for 95 because it did not say escher on the label although the label was identical in every other aspect except it was blue. I have seen a 7x2 celebrated to go for ~280
I have also seen some go for 500, so be prepared to spend somewhere from 250 to 500, I'd advise using a sniping program for better chances of winning one.
As Lynn told me, the differences are subtle. I do have a couple of each and while IME some may be better than others, all of them are very good regardless of color. Prices seem to be as you noted in your post unless someone gets lucky and runs up on one in an antique store, flea market or estate sale.Quote:

They are and have become increasingly expensive. I invested 450 in a Barber's delight about 6 months ago.
I do not know what your highest grit Naniwa is and neither have I used a Nani above 8K, however I have read that an Escher will not significantly improve a 12K edge, or at all in some cases. I can not confirm this myself, I have just read it.
Anyway, good luck looking for an Escher. Be prepared to spend what others have warned. You may be better off looking for a Thuringian. Neil Miller has some nice examples.
