So do the experts here think it was making the stone *flat* or making the stone *fresh* that made the difference?
I'm waiting to hear how the shave went, loved hearing how the first honing went...razor mange, gotta love that (don't ask me how I know EXACTLY what it is).
Acutally, the shave was very nice and smooth. I had stropped up another razor but did not use it. I stropped the razor very well and then did my normal shave. I was very nicely suprised by a very smooth and comfortable shave.
I also learned that the patina on an old blade means nothing to its ability to shave and hold an edge. This particular blade will not be touch other than to shave with. I like the way it looks and shaves.
My next project is a Boker I have and want to hone.
Enjoy.
