Sorry for the probably "dumb" question, but:
If you have a razor that was delivered shave ready, use it for a few months with daily stropping, and find out the strop doesn`t do the trick anymore.
Is it enough to give the razor a few "gentle" strokes on a 12000 grit stone and then strop it again, or do you need to start at the beginning again building a new edge?
What do you experts do in this situation?

Try 4 or 5 round trips with the weight of the blade on you 12k and then strop and test shave. If you need to try another 4 or 5. It really depends on how far you let it go before the touch up. :shrug:
Not a dumb question at all...Like Jimmy said, give it a try, No pressure, just guide the blade, Use the X pattern.
The key is to do as little as possible to restore the edge back to its original condition. As described, do a few strokes on a 12k, if that's what you have, and then strop and shave. If it's not shaving well yet, then repeat it again. Do this a few times. Only if you repeat this a few times and its still not up to snuff should you consider dropping down to a lower grit hone for just a few strokes and then going back up to the 12k. However, this means that you either A) waited too long to touch up your razor or B) are not very good at honing yet. Dropping to a lower grit will fix the former issue but the latter could make your edge even worse.
