I bought a couple of old razors off of ebay. One German H. Boker and a J. Weiss, US made. They have been honed quite a bit and I was wondering if they have a few good years left in them or if I have a couple of old pieces of steel that will collect dust? No cracks nor chips and the blades are parallel to their spines. Here are a few picts of them.
you can clean them up and hone .will take time but they will be usable.

Whilst the hone wear is pronounced, they will still make fine shavers :)
I have a few razors in my collection like yours, and they cleaned up and shaved very well :)
My Weiss 9/16 is a lovely razor !

Based upon the hone wear pattern I would guess that they both have a "frown" profile shape on the edge that will need to be honed out. That will require some work. Clean up the blades/scales before you start honing, not after.
For your future reference try not to purchase blades with rust on the edge. The rust creates a "swiss cheese" in the steel that has to be honed out. Also try to avoid razors with excessive hone wear like the second razor. Honing out a frown can be very annoying.

Thanks for the heads up Randy! I did a light test on the blades. I held them up to my laptop screen with a white background and placed the edge square across a surface I know to be true and the round point has a smile and the spike point has a slight frown near the heel, making the blade appear to "wave". Going to be a long road for me, I am competent enough to hone till shaving sharp but my Ontario still burns me a bit. I don't own fine enough hones to get a successful HHT.
