Never used one before and roughly know the technique, I see that there are a lot of videos on Youtube are there any that people would particularly recommend me watching?

'looks like a nice rock.
I'm fishing around for one myself. I hope you enjoy it a bunch
Any idea what vein it's from?
Use a light slurry so if yours is fast in slurry you won't dull the edge when you're setting a bevel. Yours looks a little green so it's probably on the slower side anyway.
Raise a little slurry and make back and forth strokes on the razor and then flip and do the same on the other side. I would do 30 back and forth strokes about 5 times and then start to dilute after each set until you are on just water.
Then finish on water with 50-100 light x strokes, whichever you need, this will take experimenting.
It also takes experimenting figuring out how to best dilute and raise slurry on your coticule, they're all different that way.
What kind of coti is this? Looks nice
Thanks for the replies, I'm trying to establish what vein it is from and shall try to take some decent close up pictures.
Nice looking stone :) I love my vintage coti. Congrats and Enjoy!
I do really like the edges I get of the coti. That stone looks great. Have fun experimenting with different slurries and lap combos. That's what it's all about. Then....a buttery smooth edge. Oh yeah.
