Interestingly I would take an alternative way. I would soak the hone on organic solvent like ether or methil cyanide for a couple days and let it dry naturally. Methil cyanide is relativelly cheap, will not bother a stone and leaves no residue.
Grizz, Good idea. I wouldn't want a good stone to crack because it bounced off the bottom of the pan. TSP is great stuff, but it is no longer allowed to be sold in California. It is still called TSP, but not the same stuff. Oil on a stone can really jam up lapping paper or a lap stone. I just use dish soap and a bit of water on all of my stones.
