Toe isn't as sharp

Hey guys I have this one razor a blank Le Jaguar that I started shaving with a few months ago. I had ding the edge on the faucet a few weeks after beginning to use straights and that brought me to buy the Naniwa 3k and 8k SS I was able to get the ding out and it has shaved well since but yesterday I went to shave and I noticed that the Toe was not as sharp as the rest of the razor. So I tried freshening it up on my pasted strop with no improvement. Now it shaves just it doesn't pop my arm hair as easily as the rest of the razor. So I went to the hones. I brought it up through Glen's progressions on youtube with the two hones I have and finished with my paste and same thing the first half inch of the razor at the toe isn't as sharp as the rest. When I shaved with it, it shaved at the toe just not as smoothly as the rest of the razor. I am just stumped on what to do I'm going to continue using it because I can shave with it just it bothers me. :shrug: Thanks for any help guys.

Sounds like you rolled the edge while stropping...we have all done it. Try using a magic marker on the edge to see how it's coming into contact with the stones. The toe may need a bit more work on the 3K. You may try 20 light circles clockwise, then counter clockwise, followed with 20 x strokes...each side. Then go back to Glen's method from start to finish.

Thanks shooter I didn't think of the magic marker I have read about it but it didn't come to mind.

Sounds like you have the tools, so all you need to do is "hone your skills" to get that razor where you need it. I'm sure you will get it back into shaving order just fine. While you are learning the honing side of things I may suggest your working with a layer of electrical tape on the spine to save un-needed wear.

Those Le Jaguar razors are great razors, which reminds me...I have a 4/8 around here somewhere that I need to get to.

Jaguars are very fine razors. Taping the blade sometimes will help and sometimes will hurt.
Just be careful when you tape the spine.
Lets say this- if you tape the spine of the blade and cannot get the edge get sharper after 30-50 strokes take tape off and start all over.
