Hey guys, I've had my Nortons for about a week now and I've been practicing on some old razors that I picked up from an antique dealer. I have watched several videos and read extensively on the subject, but I can't seem to get them as sharp as I want. I'm checking my progress often and making sure I have an even bevel across the blade. I'm using the tape on the 1k when I set my bevel, but am I supposed to use tape on the 4k and 8k too? I've seen some videos where they didn't, then I saw one of Glen's videos where he kept using the tape the whole way. That seems to be the only way I can get a decent cutting edge. However, I would like to get so sharp that my whiskers just disintegrate on sight! I recently converted a buddy I work with to wet shaving and he now has two razors. He asked me if I would hone them for him and I told him yes, if I can't get them shave ready then we're going to send them off to one of you guys though.
