Good feedback, Naniwa SS
Hello,
yesterday I had a good honing session. My Dovo needed some refreshing. So I took my 8K and started to do some strokes. After a few strokes I did the inspection with a 30x lupe. The blade looked quite rough so I took 5K and proceed few strokes. The feedback was so strong. I have not ever before felt so big difference between these stones. It was a great feeling to notice such a thing. The feeling was amazing, hard to discribe.
I have not used 5K for a while, maybe a couple of months. Have used only 8 or 12K for refreshing. Whether the time to make a trick, and increases the sensitivity of the hand? What you think?
When I started to learn honing (about 18 months ago) I had a stone and a stone and a stone.
Now I have four different stone (1, 5, 8 and 12K) and looks like I am now really understanding or feeling how different they are.
The result/shave was very good.
Just wanted to share this with you.

Congratulations on your success, but I have to ask why you went to the 8k instead of using the 12k, and then why go back even further to the 5k?

Thanks,
I went to the 5K because it just needed to do. As I wrote in earlier the bevel was quite rough. In my limited experience on the basis I came to the conclusion that it was better that way. A few stroke to a coarser stone, and then finishing techniques such as the need to do.
The 8k is a finishing stone. If I had used only it I should have been done number of strokes.
If the bevel is not perfect, do you use a finishing stone for it? I do not.
