Quick "Thank You" to Everyone...!
A word of thanks to the moderators, experts and all contributors on this forum, which is a wealth of knowledge on the not so forgotten art of shaving.
I switched to a straight about 5 years ago, and have never looked back. Shaving technique was never so much the issue, came naturally, but keeping my razors optimally sharpened was quite challenging. Thanks to this forum, I now have the proper equipment, and have developed, by following the practical guides posted here, technique that while certainly still not perfect is leagues beyond where I started, and sufficient at this point to put a VERY smooth shaving edge even on "problem" razors.
For example, a Dovo Carpe Diem that I let go to seed a bit last year, was honed a few evenings ago using straight and circular strokes on a Norton 8k, then on a coti (from light slurry to clear), then about 5 laps on a CrOx lined strop, then 50 - 60 strokes on leather - and today, in only two passes, it gave me one of the smoothest and most comfortable shaves of my life.
Couldn't have done it without you guys. Thanks again, and please keep up the good work!
