Honing a smiling edge
You know I've struggled, cursed and regretted the day I was born trying to get a proper edge on a WB Washington razor,my newest acquisition. So I watched Glenn's videos on honing a smiling edge and "AH HA!" I followed the vids to the letter and it's the best edge I've ever gotten! Man I love this place and the Internet!

Man, I've got to view that one. I've had little to no success with smiles so far.
I have a small collection of un-honed razors with smiles that I just cant get the toe and heel to the same bevel as the center.
Congrats!!! I have got to watch that one now!!
Have fun!!

I've got three smiling blades that I've yet to try to hone. Glen makes it look too simple, but I know there'll be more to it when I try. Definitely a good resource, though.

Glenn does know his stuff. I had a smiling wedge I tried my best to hone, tried all the usual techniques, but nothing worked. I watched Glenn's videos on honing a smiling wedge and his technique worked. I had to make a small adjustment due to the blade condition. If I started with 1 or 2 layers of tape I ended up with a 1/8" or more wide bevel. So, I adjusted by adding 2 more layers of tape (4 layers total) and that worked, the blade had a nice even bevel and the razor ended up being a real nice shaver. The point being Glenn's technique, the 45 degree stroke, made a world of difference, it works. A person can learn a lot watching all his honing videos.
