Using slurry stone on Shapton glass stones

Hello: I have the 4000, 8000 and 16,000 Shapton Stones and need to know if i should use my
Belgian slurry stone on them? Thanks, Donald

If you want to slurry with the Shaptons at all most of us have found that using the DMT 325 or the Shapton DGLP gives a good result with about 5 figure 8's as you start on each hone

hmmm, i have never wanted a slurry on my shaptons YMMV so i never gave it a thought.

Not to hijack the threat, but as I was explain, slury is to make it cut faster. I understand that the shapton glass are fast cutters by themselves. Slury would make them cut much faster.
So, please someone answer this for me. Does the slury you use have any effect on the edge ( ie. smoother edge?) or not? Or does it only have to do with the speed of the cut?

Try this system on the Shapton GS, Neil and I both found nice smooth results with it...

The only reason I could see that the Coticule slurry might not work is the grit difference,,, If the Coti is releasing grit that grit would carry through to all the Shapton hones and be a bad thing after 8k... Where a DMT or DGLP doesn't release grit so you are working with pure Shapton slurry ...
