My new dark pinkish coticule. Wich layer would it be?

Hi all,

Just got a new coticule in the mail yesterday. It has a lovely dark pinkish (bit brown to) colour to it.
I believe it's a La Dressante based on some layer info I've found. But would love some more opinions.

First picture is the dry stone, the rest is the stone when it's wet.

Edit: I just see i posted this in "honing" and not in hones so my apologies. May be replaced.

Maybe La Grise?

I always thought that a La Grise would have a greyish colour. But I could be wrong about that.

Did you get that from Ardennes Coticule or elsewhere ? If it came from them obviously they could give you the info. If it didn't come from them than you would have to find someone in Belgium who worked in "that" mine and knew the pet names assigned to the different veins. They just gave the different locations names to facilitate keeping track of workers and production. Each mine had its own names for veins.

Your stone in he pic looks very like my large natural with the mottled pink amongst the yellow. Here is mine. If you do find out the name of the vein I bet that is where mine came from too. To me they look very similar.

I got this stone of a trade so it did not came directly from Ardennes-Coticule. Yours really does look the same. Will check with Bart from coticule.be for the ID

Jimmy is yours pritty fast with slurry as in very fast? If so i reckon yours could acatuly be a la patite blanche.. there are la patite blanches that looked like yours? very hard feel to the stone ?

What with all of that pink in there it is pretty fast but has enough yellow to balance out to be fine as well. No clue as to whether it is a petite blanche. It is a vintage coticule so no idea which mine it came out of. I traded my first born child for it so it was great deal for me.

The OP's stone almost looks like a suita with renge, which often indicates a fast cutting stone. I wonder what the mineral difference is between those pinkish red dots and pinkish red dots in a stone from Kyoto.
