This is my first set of hones for razors so I have some lapping to do.
Guess I will go to Home Depot or Lowes and look for a granite tile or something to use as my plate for the sandpaper.
Any suggestions, etc appreciated.

Use the wet/dry paper from the auto parts stores (3M brand). I would go w/ 400 or 600 grit personally. On the 1k and 4k do 5 grids and 3 or 4 on the 8k. Watch gssixguns norton lapping vid on youtube first. It will take a while to lap all these, but take your time and don't rush otherwise you will end up with an uneven stone and an uneven sharpened razor.
Those are my workhorses. Don't skimp on the water, and let the weight of the hones do much of the work. Mine were very easy to lap. YMMV, though. Some find they have to lap off more of the surface than others to get to smooth, usable surfaces.
And ditto on your Rush shout-out; long overdue!
Thanks guys. I have watched gssixgun's video as well as others and will do so again.
