The only words I can make out are "This thing is crazy sharp" and "Not for cutting sushi".
Also "Made from a Toyota corolla leaf spring"........kidding. Maybe Zethlent or another member from Japan can help. Looks nice Magnus, yet to try a kami. NOS?
Yeah its a NOS. looks great just dont know who made it.
Good looking kamisori there Mrmagnus. I cannot read a word of Japanese but I know there is apps/programs on the web that let's you scan and upload kanji then gives you a translation. Never tried it but it might be worth a shot.
Good luck!
Might be of help to show a closeup of the Kanji on the blade.
Wish I could help! Close-ups could help. There is an Ebay seller who explains this on razors he sells. Might get a look if I knew what to look for.
Took some photos of the Kanji on the razor today. anyone recognize the maker?

Man, I have been searching on the internet. SOMEWHERE there has to be a list of makers and their signatures.......
Have not found it yet. Let me get OZ over here!
A rough translation is "All that glistens is not gold". Don't know if that converts well into Swedish, Magnus, but I wish you well anyway.
Not familiar with the kanji but I could move this thread to the 'Japan' forum if op wishes. Might get a hit there.
Thanks, Oz! Sounds as if the best course of action. Magnus?
Yes lets move
No problemo.
MrM we don't allow bumping on SRP . You'll notice I deleted 2 of your other bumps.
It's a holdover from when people bumped their classifieds to the top but it is policy across all our forums.
If anyone can help they always do so be patient.]

I had a thought, Magnus, There are lots of Kamisori for sale on Ebay. They seem to have some way to identify the makers.
You might print out a pic of the Kanji, tape it to the side of your computer monitor, and go thru the listings on occasion.
It seems every symbol has a meaning. Maker, type of steel, etc. You might find a friendly, knowledgeable seller who will help you ID yours. Of course, you might have to buy another one to make such a friend! ;)
Not to hijack the thread, but I also have a kamisori that I'm having trouble identifying.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
99% of these Kamis cannot be identified with the exception of a few (very Few) major makers.
Than you have the ebay sellers that pop into SRP looking for Info, never to return, thorn in my side:(
So in other words, dont get my hopes up. I can deal with that, it's all about how it shaves after all.
eBay buyer here, not seller. :) The seller said it was an Inoue Tosuke (naturally the mark doesn't appear to match), but it was an OK price and seems to be of reasonable quality so far.
I got a little bit of info after sending out some feelers on facebook. The two character phrase 特選 translates to something along the line of, "specialty", "top choice", or "special choice."
The second character of the maker's name (the longer string of characters) looks like it might be incompletely struck. If it is indeed "上", then that makes the first two characters "井上" or "Inoue." This could be promising!
Shave report coming soon!
If any Help,this is a tosuke,made by the master.http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...e/tosuki-1.jpg
I messed with the brightness and contrast of your picture a bit. Makes the kanji a bit easier to see.

Hello, I might have something for you. :)
The kanji we need to know are these 芳忠 (Houchuu, or Hōchū) which should refer to the maker of this kamisori. 特製 (tokusei) means special. So you should have a Hōchū special kamisori.
The first kanji on top, are barely readable, but in my opinion should be the classic "Trade Mark" or "Registered Mark" kanji combination.
Recently received this kamisori , in a lot of razor I won on a Japanese auction site. I have a few pics of the kanji any help or info would be greatly appreciated
