Hey, been a while since I've posted but still lurking around. I'm a straight razor shaver since about 2012 living in Cork.
Nice, just trying to find more resources in Ireland before I start straight shaving.

Hello from Dublin I started with a straight 5 days ago nd it's getting easier. Stopped last night 4 the 1st time - slowly !
Welcome bodysuit. It gets easier everytime. Take a bit to get the muscle memory going and you will find after 100+ shaves you will think you got it down. Them after 200+ shaves you will know that when you hit 100 and thought you knew what you were doing, you were just getting started.
Keep at it and before long you will be shaving with a straight and not even thinking about that super sharp piece of steel your putting against you throat. Ha. Enjoy.

It's very hard to find anyone who hones in Dublin. I'm picking up all the gear needed to teach myself how to hone. So far I've got,
Naniwa 12k SS,
Stone holder,
Atoma 400 lapping plate,
Just a few more bit to get and I'll start. Good luck.
Irishshaver, best of luck with the honing ! Id be interested to know how you get on. I'll get a 1k, 5k, 8K and 12k before I begin. I'm wondering where you picked up the 12k ss ? I see shaving.ie has up to 10k. I must admit I never enjoyed shaving so much, even with the odd nick !

Thanks folks for your replies. I've decided to get my razor Honed the 1st time by Fergiebilly and slowly collect the stones so in time I'll give it a go. I've looked at knives n tools and they're good. My shaves are improving daily, stropping is flowing now. Thanks all for your posts and help. Keep her lit. Kieran
