It's not as much a question of need as it is a question of wanting something beautiful crafted by people with a passion for making the vert best they can possibly manage
Oh I wasn't doubting the the desirability of the knife.....I wants one meself.
It's just that this is a Every Day Carry knife topic.....and I was wondering what you do normally that you get to carry something in that size.
:)
You know, if I were to apply sense into what knife I carry I would be well served with a Mora knife as an EDC.
I do use every knife I buy, be it for work as a technician in the AV industry, when I'm unboxing stuff at the office or when out fishing or hiking with the kids in the forrest and or mountains around here.
Now, I do try to take care of such costly tools, but they are absolutely made for use imho.
Gutting a fish or whittling a walking cane or a sailing boat out in the forrest elevates from a mondane task to a pleasurable thing when using tools like my Rocksteads;)
I admire the beauty and craftsmanship of these objects de art and buy them from time to time. When I do, I cannot bear to use them. They are so beautiful when pristine. I used to buy mint vintage Case XX knives from the 20s, 30s, and 40s, and then carry and use them. Aside from drastically reducing the value, they were no longer as beautiful as they had been when pristine. On the other side of the coin, there is a satisfaction in using them.
I suppose that is why I gravitated so much to razors. Even using them, they are not subject to the same rigors and can still look beautiful while being enjoyed. So with the knives I pick up from time to time, most are relegated to the knife roll, to be admired from time to time. I just can't bring myself to use them, even if I might carry one in a pocket from time to time. I still carry my trusty old Case XX 61048 Rogers bone from the 1950s to do whatever it is I have to do.
This one will just make you cry, if you're a fan of pristine Case XX knives.
It's ridden in my pocket for the better part of 15 years.
I used to work outdoors and sweat through my clothes half an hour into the shift...

I love this Case knife for knife work.
I also carry this one, daily, in case a social occasion should present itself.
*Cough*Spiderco Bug*Cough*
Looks ridiculous but it's *just* about big enough for most things I use it for.
I agree totally. Also, it is not always that I need that particular tool or knife or razor, it is that I want that particular tool! It is also a reward to myself for a job well done and a good work ethic that I can afford to purchase that particular tool etc!
