I got sick of losing folders, I went with a custom fixed blade since I could t find anything that fit my use. A really nice blade made by one of Charlie Lewis’ buddies. Knife is 1085, 3” edge, iron wood grips.

After losing close $1k in folders over the last 10 years I figured a fixed in a belt sheath would fair better. I can’t be happier with the steel. I’ve gone through most the easily attainable super steels and there really isn’t a better balance between edge retention and ease of sharpening of high carbon simple steel.

The knife cost me the same as as each of my last two benchmades but is made to my exact specifications. I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.

Down it went into the weeds. I could have gotten a magnet etc. and at that time it probably took me 3 hours of labor to buy a similar one. So I wrote it off!
Lost my last folder after cleaning some trout my son caught on his first fishing trip. Left it on a rock to clean it off after gutting them, someone found a fairly nice, extremely sharp Arcane in cpm s90v.

How does the fixed blade make you remember to pick it back up?

One of the first things that I do with a knife with a pocket clip is remove it.

I want a thin overall knife that will sit in my pocket and not fall or get dragged out when reaching for change or something else.

I always have this one with me. I usually carry something else in my pocket although i prefer to travel light in the summer. Handles just about everything i generally need a knife for. Rope, slicing open mail or packages. Its a slip so dont expect heavy use out of it. FIts right on my key lanyard. Blade is an inch or so. Spyderco. It isnt cheap ($75 or so) but it has cts-bdi steel. Takes an edge easy and holds it just fine. Ive spent much more money on things that are less useful.

Gets used a lot, at work. Haven't changed the blade for some time. I keep a stone at work for keeping it sharp

I have the generic Home Depot version. Works great for cutting boxes, carpet, linoleum, etc. The replacement blades are not expensive and can be sharpened many times.
