Hello everyone,
I'm new to all this but I've been lurking the forums here and at badgerandblade brushing up on my knowledge up until now. For the better part of my life I've been using cartridge razors and goop in a can but recently I've been made aware of the world of straight razors. I always thought it was a thing of the past, but I find myself increasingly drawn to the idea of using a straight razor.
I've never owned a straight but recently made my first purchase on eBay. A vintage Giesen & Forsthoff Adoration 666. I also purchased a few gold dollars. I plan on learning all I can about the restoration process and bringing the Adoration back to life. The gold dollars will be for me to practice honing, as I'm not so worried about messing up while working on them.
I am eager to learn all I can from these forums and I look forward to speaking with members here, I can see there is a ton of very knowledgeable people on this forum and wealth of material to learn from.
Any advise/sources/literature I can get from any of you would be great.
To break the ice here is an interesting fact about me: I'm 26, I've got 5 kids (ages: 2,3,5,6,7) and another one on the way.
Cheers.
Also here is a few pictures of the straight I've purchased, the pictures are from the eBay posting. Once I have it in my hands I will post better pictures:
