Hello from Maryland!
Hello everyone!
I'm an undergraduate student studying at the University of Maryland, right outside of Washington, D.C. I've been shaving with a double-edge razor for a year and a half, but I was interested in straight razor shaving long before then. However, I've never had the money nor the volition to take the plunge until now!
I've got a Dovo from Straight Razor Place on the way (I've heard the guy who runs that site is somewhat big around here), and intend to purchase a strop and possibly a barber hone (thoughts on that?) later tonight.
As for other interests, I like fountain pens, speedsolving the Rubik's cube (competition average 18.74 sec), and the occasional piece of EDC gear (knives, flashlights, etc.)
I look forward to getting into straight razor shaving and getting to know this forum better!

Welcome to SRP! Definitely need a strop. I have a 2.5" from star shaving supply (Inexpensive and decent IMO for learning) and a 3" Latigo strop from Vintage blades. A barbers hone would be nice to keep the edge or something in the 12k range. I'm sure others will chime in with more experience

Welcome to the 'Place'
Honing is usually recommended after gaining a bit of experience in other aspects, like shaving & stropping but a barber hone is an ok jumping in point if you choose to go ahead.
