Hello from Québec
Hi guys, long time lurker here.
First of all I would like to thank you guys for putting up so much information online its really a life saver.
Got my first Straight last Christmans from my girlfriend and its a Dovo ebenholz.
Don't know where it came from but it was pre honed and shave ready and had a strop too.
My first shave with it was fantastic and I know I was hooked...
Bought some stones and a few Gold Dollar to try honing ( fiddled them with a dremel ).
And it began to get a bit out of control lol!
I got some washers and brass rods (got the right ones thanks to this site).
Now I have a lots of stones norton 4000/8000, 12 naniwa, 1k/6k from Langevin forest and a bunch of barber hones.
I made my first restoration on a Seffield Henry Barnasco. Nothing to write home about. Was hard to learn how to hone a wedge.
I am having a lot of fun learning all that stuff. Also I have to adapt my technique a bit since I have a essential tremor disorder.
Today was a good day. I bought and old Spartacus 5/8 889 Thiers Issard with a silver gladiator on the scales.
Cleaned it, honed it and it was really rewarding. I nearly forgot the aftershave so I tried the alum stone : I almost felt no burn!
Anyways thanks again guys for putting up such a great site.

Salut Tchuko, et bienvenue
Wow - it sounds like you have hit the ground running!
There are quite a few other guys from the Montréal area, and every once in a while we talk about putting together a Montréal/Ottawa area meetup, so keep an eye out here: Get Togethers and Meetings
As far as I know, there's nothing planned at the moment, but hopefully we'll get our act together one of these days. :)
In the meantime, good luck, and if you have any questions, please ask away.
