Newb from Brisbane
Just dived into shaving with a Ralf Aust 5/8 from SRD. The guys there have been great with advice, as with the contributors here.
I've shaved with electrics for years, as I travel a lot, but as my last one bit the dust I thought of trying something different.
Had my first couple of shaves this week, and am totally sold. Great fun. Couple little battle scars, redness but overall a win. Shower, lather, hot towel, lather, wtg cheek, then lather then xtg cheek then the other side. Each practice gets a little closer. Very dubious with the chin though. Time will tell.
Thanks to everyone here, read lots of info and advice, to kick it off.
Now got to figure out how to pack and travel with the stuff.
cheers

Welcome to SRP, sir!
I had an awesome shave with my Aust 5/8 this evening. I think you will be happy with your choice.

Gday Davo. Welcome to the forum. I've travelled a number of times both domestically and internationally with straights and as long as they go in your check in baggage, I've never had a problem.

Welcome to the 'Place'
Chin's all about keeping a flat angle on a not so flat surface :p You'll sort it out with time & practice.

Hi and welcome. Good to hear going well so far. Alot of trial and error to find what suits you but you'll get there. Enjoy your shaving and good luck

What sort of travel do you do, and for how long? We might be able to make some suggestions.
All the best ed.

G'Day Davo and welcome.
Anything I can do to help - just ask.

Ditto Geoff (Havachat45). We're both at opposite ends of Brisbane, so at least one of us has to be in your rough area. :)
