New guy from Lyon, France

Hey all !

some of you may know, French for the most of them (but I wouldn't mind meeting someone from the WWS :) I know at least one of 'em may lurk around the corner)

I'm a recent straight shaver, that much is true, I started a mere month ago.
Still, I have actually been shaving for years with a DE before I considered diving into the world of straight razors. It was not an easy choice in any case, what with wanting but not being sure it was a good idea when your hands can suddenly clasp or your legs can collapse. Anyway, in the end I found a solution using both my DE and my straight razors.

Yes, razors with an S.

An avid flea market raider (I prefer the term "treasure hunter") for years now, regarding another hobby of mine, I could not resist the urge to grab some blades while having my eyes peeled for other things. I particularly love old razors, and as a matter of fact own mostly near wedges or wedges. I do confess though that currently one of my favorite is a singing hollow blade.

Yes, they are shave ready thank you very much good sir :) Even if it means one of them has a tendency to kiss me wildly on the cheekbone every time it meets it. Can't help it, sailors are very sweet under their rude appearance.

Well, I hope I'll find many a good tip here and that I'll enjoy your company.

Welcome Aggelos. And what a beautiful city you reside in. My first trip to France was to Lyon for the Coup du Monde and Bocuse D'Or back in1999. Wonderful city.

I actually played when I was a kid... In the subburbs of Grenoble :) Born there actually. But while I like it far better than soccer for example, I would not say I do care much for rugby, sorry. For that you'd have to ask my father :)

That would be because we have sufficiently big an online community of straight shavers for our needs :) That does not mean we don't know what happens here on the SRP, or other English speaking communities for that matter.
Oh, and there's a fact that there is a general consensus stating that French people suck at English. I'd take that into account.

Why, thank you good sir :) I am, indeed, French, with both parents knowing little of foreign languages. That being said, I've been practicing English for a long time (thanks, video games), I have been working with people from various part of the US, from India, etc. only watch movies and read book in their original version when available, and frequently contribute on other US forums regarding other hobbies.

Odd yes...English No :p And what's this I read on the first page about someone not being too far from aggelos in France?!...C'mon! It's France. It's just another European country, you could stand at one border and sneeze on the blokes on the opposite border! Everything is close! ;) Come to Australia. My nearest family are two hours away doing highway speeds on reasonably straight roads, 200kms from signpost to signpost, longer from house to house. The next ones I visit are just a days drive away, 743kms signpost to signpost. I would have to drive almost all the way across Frances 962kms just to get to the edge of outback Queensland...

And don't take any offence at any of this. I'm just making a statement about distance and how lucky you blokes are sometimes for being so close to everything else in the world. I'm in a country almost the size of Europe, with the only diversity being in the amount of wildlife that can kill you. language, culture...Nope. Just can't find much variety in either of those. It's pretty much the same with hardly a change in accent.

And populated by the descendants of thieves, killers and rapers, yes thank you very much :) I would not trust an australian with a knife, let alone a razor :p Ok, JK mate, put down that blade.

That being said, while indeed we have to be careful sometimes not to step in another country by mistake, you have to take into account that the old continent is like an old man's face : wrinkled all over. 200kms is more like a 3h30 trip in some places :shrug:
Mind you, I feel your pain, if you walk the 200kms, the most dangerous animal you may cross is a wasp. And if you have to cross some water, you can go swimming without writing your last will and testament prior to it. So there's that :)
