Thanked: 22Hello from Tasmania
G'day to all ..... my name's Joan. I'm a razor tragic!
I've been 'lurking' for what seems like years around this forum, but finally decided it was time to come out of the shadows and 'publicly' meet up on the forum. Some of my 'razor mates' have been encouraging me to join for ages, so here I am. [Some of you already know me from the AKC (Australasian Knife Collectors Club that we closed in 2011) and knife/razor articles in Knives Australia magazine (2001 - 2010).]
Coming in from a knife-collecting/making background since I was very young, razors caught my attention back in the late 1990's when I first purchased a 7-day set of Jno Baker razors as party of our research on Australian knife history of that firm .... and since then, my collection of razors has kept growing. Some good buys, some not so good- but the number has swelled significantly and almost embarrassingly.
After an initial clean and rust-control, its down to researching the manufacturing history if a 'new' brand to my collection .
At first I guess I just accumulated razors but more recently have specialised in razors with an Australian link, spending time to find the history on what firm and where ....
Regards
Joan
