Hello srp!
Hey everyone,
I started shaving with a straight since this summer. I've been enjoying it so far but still have a long way to go. I've also been learning how to hone my own razor which is definitely a whole other art in itself. And at this moment my current project is an attempt at making some home made aftershave. I snagged some California bay laurel leaves and thought I could give bay rum a try. If you guys have any suggestions for recipes let me know!

welcome. black and red peppercorns go well with bay. adds an understated spice to it I think

Welcome. You can find a wealth of info here. Let us know how the aftershave works out

Welcome to the 'Place'
You can experiment with the bay leaves you have but normally Pimenta Racemosa leaves are used for Bay Rum aftershave.
The tree is sometimes called the bay rum tree & the oil can be purchased quite easily but the leaves will work too.
If you want recipes use the google Custom search window , top right corner . 'home made aftershave' will give you a ton of hits.

I'll be definitely trying the pepper. Thanks! I know the bay laurel isn't the preferred tree to get the leaves from but I find the smell of it to be interesting. I'll keep you posted on how it turns out.
