How long should I wait to use my razor again before shaving with it. I am new to the straight razor but used the safety razor for years.
Would 24 hours be long enough or does time matter.
Thank you.

Depends what you're asking as it could be read two ways:
1) How long should I wait between shaves to let my face recover? That totally depends on the individual. If you're just brand new to straights, I'd suggest maybe skipping a day and seeing how it feels. If your face is irritated, skip two days next time. If it isn't then try shaving every day. Eventually your skin will get used to the process and every day will be possible. (and remember to pay attention to beard prep, blade angle, and using light pressure: all these will help reduce irritation)
2) Does my razor need to 'rest' between shaves? You'll read in plenty of places that you need to 'rest' a razor between shaves. IMHO this is absolute hogwash, but that's just me. A truly shave-ready razor, proper stropping and prep are what matter, not letting a blade 'rest'. As with many aspects of straight shaving, YMMV. :)
As far as the razor itself goes...long enough to clean, dry and strop it...and it'll be ready again. A razor doesn't need to be "rested", just an old wives tale.
Most of the time I shave every other day. There have been times I use the same razor even though I have seven in my rotation. If I go on vacation I bring two razors and shave every day.
I shave every day with a straight razor and usually use the same razor every day for a couple of weeks until I get bored then move to another razor, only touching up a razor when I can't get a smooth feeling and good looking shave that lasts more than 12 hours using only two passes.
Thank you all
