    Default Howdy from Oregon

    Greetings SRP forum!

I'm a complete neophyte looking to kick the cartridge habit. I have practice keeping kitchen and pocket knives in good working order, but now I'd like to refine honing skills and go a bit 'greener' with proper shaving techniques. I'm looking forward to learning from you all.

    Kind Regards

Welcome. Although the principles are common the technique is completely different. You will still create a bevel and the refine and polish it as with all sharpened steel, the geometry of the razor creates the angle to which it is sharpened. You amy either have a head start when you start honing or a handicap. It can fall either way. There is a large amount of information here. It is usually best to start with a shave ready razor and lear to shave and then if you are up for the challenge, learn to hone. However, small steps. There is a wiki and videos etc in the library tab at the top. Enjoy!
