Hello all! I have been lurking around the forums here and have learned quite a bit! I'm not new to the DE shaving and love the results but still want to take that jump to the next step :) I have recently made a purchase of a SR and will have it honed to get it have ready. I will keep all informed as to how I do good or bad hahaha

I've been DE shaving for close to two years and I do quite well with the the lack of nicks :rock: so far
Just wanted to state that I did a good deal and got a straight for even trade and I'm going to do my first SRS this weekend!

Thanks for including your location in your profile! While there are several members with a lot of experience in the NY and PA area perhaps one of them can be of help or know of someone who is closer to you! You can't beat hands on learning! You will learn more in a few hours than months of reading and watching videos!
If your razor was sharpened at the factory, then you will probably be disappointed with your attempts. Let us know what razor you have then perhaps we can give you some counsel.

Learning to 'Properly' Strop and 'Shave' let alone make a good lather is more than enough for a Newbie to handle!!
It's frustrating how many times I see something like this:
"I just got my straight razor it's honed by a Pro and my shaves suck; What stones do I need"!
The OP needs stones/hones like he needs a hole in his head!! He needs to learn the 'Basics' first!!! Honing is a Whole Different Word!!
