G'day
Hey all,
My name is Andrew.
I am from the Hunter Valley in New South Wales, Australia. It's about 2hrs north of Sydney. Lots of good wine and fresh produce. I would love to learn more and find out more about straight razors or cut throat razors as they are known for the most part here in AUS.
I'm specifically looking to restore some old razors and use them.
Hope to learn from you all.
Cheers

Howdy mate, welcome to a great forum. You'll also find the Aussie sub-forum very helpful too....Enjoy !!

Welcome. So do you have a couple of vintage razors already or just starting to look. Do you currently shave with a SR? You can certainly find a lot of info and help here. I don't restore razors but I would think it would be a much easier task if you have a working knowledge of using one first. Either way good luck and look forward to seeing pics of your work.

Hey guys, thanks for the warm welcome.
I have 4 on the way, they were posted today and should have them by Friday.
One is a blue wonder, 2 are bengalls and the other is a soligen, I can't quite remember, 3 are in pretty good condition and the other one looks like it has been ground down a bit, the blade looks fairly out of shape.
I'll post some pics when I get them. Currently I haven't shaved with an SR. I did have one but I blew it up, wasn't to bad but it had a big nick in the blade, I put it on the grinder and it developed a crack then exploded.
Rookie error.

HI, welcome to the forum :) I have been meaning to reply to this thread for a couple of days.
If you are interested, I have a whipped dog shave ready razor and a horsehair brush that you are welcome to and can also include a sample of some nice aftershave cream that I really like which is an Australian brand and very reasonably priced. The only thing I would ask is that you forward them on to another new member once you have replacement items to use. Im happy to pay postage to you.
I can also offer a whipped dog poor-mans strop if you like on the condition that if you nick it or damage it past repair (small nicks can be sanded out), you would replace with similar item. Also this would be to forward on to another new member once you no longer require it.
I hope you find as much enjoyment and satisfaction as I did in starting and pursuing this hobby :)

Welcome to the forum,
It looks like you could be well set up by andrew and bongo and their kind offers, i saw your other thread about your 4 razors, from what i can see they will need a little work before use.
Once you are set to go I have no doubt you will have a fair few questions, in the meantime i would recomend reading some of the other threads in the beginners section, you will notice themes with both the questions and answers, that way you will be a bit prepared, there is also a lot of info in the wiki.

Forgot to add, I've also got a balsa strop with Crox you are welcome to.
