Hello from Milwaukee
Hello everyone.
Im havin a tough time figuring out what to buy for my first blade. I have wires growing out of my face.
I was hoping to find shaving with a straight razor to be a cost effective alternative. If I cant keep the start up cost down I'm going to have to stick to my weed wacker.

Hi and welcome. The classifieds here regularly have lower cost straights that will be truly shave ready. Whipped dog also has a number of low cost items you could look at. You can easily start up for not much more than 100 if you buy sensibly. VDH brush and soap sets can be found easily and are cheap. Sure others will be able to help more. Good luck and any questions feel free to ask

Welcome 36Nick. The VDH (Van Der Haggen) sets are available locally for under $30 at Walmart and walgreens. If you go to Walmart they have clubman stypic pencils as well. I started with one of those kits, and a Dovo Best from Straight Razor Designs. You can't go wrong with SRD but if cost is an issue everyone recommends whipped dog

Hello JT,
Welcome to Straight Razor Place. There is a lot to learn and I'll be happy to mentor you and suggest what you need. I live in Milwaukee, just north of Bayshore Town Center. Drop me a note or stop by the house. Oh, there are better products than the VDH.
