Thanked: 0Aloha from Maui!
Hi guys,
My name is Gaines Brown, I'm a tattooer on Maui. I have just gotten into SR shaving in the last month or so. I've been using a brush and bar to lather my face for about a year now and I decided to get a razor to fit in the little slot on my brush holder lol; so I bought a "shave ready" Red Imp off ebay and have been using it daily for the last 4 weeks and love it ( although im not sure how shave ready it really was ) I also bought a lot of 6 razors ( from the bay again ) along with a Norton 4/8k and a naniwa 12k and a nice natural strop from SRD. I have gotten most of the lot shaveable except for this one Red Imp that has a slightly wavy blade ( having a hard time with that one ). My Girlfriend says its becoming an obsession lol, but I think she's right! So if anyone comes to Maui and wants a tattoo, or just to talk about razor's then just let me know!
Take care, and happy shaving!
Gaines Brown,
Maui, Hi.

Hi and welcome. I would be wary of a wavey blade. Smiling yes but not wavey. Might be a idea to send it out to get the egde fixed. Any questions feel free to ask.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Hey Gaines!
Welcome! Tattoos and straight shaving. You have clearly benefited from proper tutelage! A couple of my favorite things as well. One of my best buds owns a shop here in Iowa City (I've paid for a lot of meals over the years, but not for any tattoos. He's currently working on sleeves for my daughter). Should you decide to get into Japanese straights and natural honing stones, A-Frames Tokyo (on one of those islands there in Hawaii...) is a great resource.
Ask questions, and know that the "Library" tab at the top of the page is a voluminous source of info!!! Enjoy the exquisite taste sharpening sharpening taste exquisite smooth. Please taste the taste enough to ride cutlery.

Thanked: 284Yes welcome! Like entropy said Aframes Tokyo is in Mililani. I've always wanted to check him out when we visit my in laws, but haven't had the chance. I don't think he has a storefront but probably willing to show you around.
Have fun!I love living in the past...
