Hi and welcome. If you have been lurking a while you should have picked the basics but any questions feel free to ask.
Welcome to the forum.
It's always nice seeing the Arizona community grow. If you are ever up in Phoenix PM me, and I would be happy to give you a lesson on shaving or honing.
Welcome to the Brotherhood ...if it was easy..everyone would shave with a straight...it just takes time and practice.
I have been a member on this forum for a while. I have not used a SR yet as I have been traveling away from home for a few months. When I return later this month I will attempt the deed.
Welcome to the gang. Lots of information and help to be gleaned from the many helpful members here. Good shaves to you.
Welcome to SRP, there is a thread about an upcoming Arizona meet, still in the early planning stages, but if you can make it you'll learn more in an hour or two than a week reading. What part of the state do you live?
Welcome and here is a link to the thread about the meet. http://straightrazorpalace.com/get-t...zona-meet.html Join in and let us know if you are interested.

Welcome to SRP! I am moving to AZ in about a week. Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help.
Hello, and welcome to the fold!!
wow, very warm welcome here.
I am currently in just outside of Phoenix.
No, I didn't see the AZ meet. Thanks for the link. I will not able to make that meet, but the next one, I will attend.
And Bordee I will sure take you up on your offer.
I am still reading and watch video. Maybe middle age crisis, but I don't think it is too late for me to try.
I will move really slowly and set low expectation.
I still budget buying things slowly. I read the Beginer's guide, and there are many factors so it is hard to recommend.
Hope people don't mind, I will ask anyway: Is there such a thing best bang for your buck a straight razor for $150 shipped? used is OK. something for newbie, and it will last for me. If you have one and don't mind to pass it to a newbie in that price range, please let me know.
Thank you all for the warm welcome.
Welcome to SRP! For $150, I would look into the site's Classifieds to find a decent razor. Anyway, that's the way I would go. Good luck! :)
Best bang for your buck eh? Well there are quite a few options for you. Check out the classifieds here for razors for sale by members, look at some of the vendors here (Straight Razor Designs, Gemstar Customs, Whippeddog) just to name a few. One of the most important variables to consider when buying a straight razor is that it comes "Shave Ready" by someone who knows how to hone razors. New or used, I'm sure you'll find something within your budget. Stay away from ebay for awhile until you gain more experience with razors and what to look for when buying, there are a lot of shiny looking razor shaped objects that would be shame to waste your money on. Also check out the wiki/library for razor brands avoid. Hope this helps and keep us posted.
