New Missouri member here
Hi all,
I'm a veteran DE shaver (15+ years), but because of some health issues I had to switch to an electric a few years ago (blood thinners and blades don't mix well). A couple of years ago, I was able to switch back to blades, and found out how much I missed a proper shave.
Recently, I have decided to take the plunge into the world of the straight razor. I found a very nice, gently used entry level Dovo at an antique store for what amounted to a giveaway price. My barber also gifted me with a couple of vintage straights and a medium sized Belgian coticule. I have acquired a decent strop, and as soon as the Dovo comes back from the honer, I think I'm ready to go.
I'm pretty excited to get started and am looking forward to the day that I'll be able to call myself proficient with a straight razor.
Looking forward to to getting to know you and benefitting from your combined knowledge.

I also am on blood thinners so i'm very carful with the straight. when I do nick myself I keep that little white stick handy. be sure to watch the videos on u tube about straight razor shaving. they are very informing. All the folks here are also eager to help so don't hesitate to ask questions. Really a good bunch of guys. Have fun with the blades.

Hi and welcome. Unfortunately all my barbers goodies go to the apprentice that is into razors just ad much as I am. Can't complain though I'm the one who started it up again in his shop when I went in looking for someone to hone my first razor. Should see if you can get him to give you some lessons. Any questions feel free to ask
