Default Hello to all. Another new b here.

Great site. I bought my complete kit from SRP. I am glad I went this route because it had all of the quality things a new b needs. It has the Dovo razor, Simpson brush, a great strop and I got the Frankensense soap and sandalwood cream. All great. There are a few things I have learned in the last few weeks. I have to find out my blood type, so when I go get some badly needed blood, I will know what kind to get. Amazon and E bay are now my wifes worst enemies. Mama Bears makes some really killer soaps. I have several new lifelong scars that will be on my face forever. Thylers witch hazel HAS to be diluted before applying to a freshly shaven face. Styptic pencils are great, but you have to wipe it off of your cuts before going in public or there will be white chalk looking stuff on your face. I also am a new fan of some French things like Clubman, and I have more aftershaves and balms than should be legal. I also think, if it says lotion, then it should be thick like what I now know as a balm. They say there is a learning curve and I truly know this to be true. Well, nice to meet you all and love the site. If I can do anything for ya, let me know.

Awesome start. SRD has never done me wrong. Cuts and nicks will go away with time and the scars... Well I have a couple reminders of my first few weeks on strops and cheeks and maybe one on the chin.

    Welcome to SRP

    Which Dovo did you choose?

Welcome and congratulations on your perseverance in the face of blood.

Actually, I assume you're kidding. If you're not you may want to know that if Thayer's actually stings, you may want to ease up on razor pressure....it shouldn't be needed, and there shouldn't be much, if any, irritation.

Anyway welcome, and good choice to buy from SRD!

Thanks for the replies. I got the Dovo Best Quality. It is a 5/8. I love it I actually was not kidding about the witch hazel. I dilute it a small amount. I will ease up on the next shave and thanks for the tip. Sorry so late getting back. Yes I really love this sport. LOL. Is it considered a sport? I have never known anyone to use straight razors and I just thought it would be neat to try. This is a great site with a wealth of information, and I thank each of you for your welcoming and advice. I will only be getting into this deeper. I only have 1 razor(well 2) I bought a Boker from Ebay. The blade was cracked and had to be ground!! I tell you what though, those Norton and Naniwa stones do a great job. The one that was cracked, I shaved with today(the right side) and it shaved almost as good as the new Dovo. It has wooden scales that the blade sticks in, and when you move it just right it will slam closed. I have seen the cut of the day cuts and do not want to be on there. I would like to thank yall again for the nice welcome.

Welcome! Glad to see a new straight user made the right choice an purchased from a reputable company that sends a true shave ready straight. As TC said just take it slow an enjoy it. Even the bad days make it a habit to follow a routine. Will help build the muscle memory. It gets really fun when it starts to come together an the shaves get better an better. Your in the right place. Everyone is so helpful.
