Howdy Yall!
Been a forums lurker for a little while. I live in Saskatchewan, Canada.... Formerly from South Carolina. Just wanting to "break the ice" . Lots of great info on here. I hope to be shaving soon when my first straight razor(Dovo Inox) arrives this coming week. I hope to make friends on here and to learn much from yall. Welcome! There is a lot to learn, and lots of ways to learn it here!
If you haven't already, go to the Beginner's section of SRP and read as much as you can. Also, watch the videos as much as you have time to.
South Carolina to Saskatchewan must be quite a transition!

And start practicing stropping on your leg with a butter knife.

Welcome to SRP! Is your razor coming to you "shave ready"? A lot of third party vendors state it's have ready.... but not so much. While you are waiting for the Dovo take a look around here Straight Razor Place Library - Straight Razor Place Library and here Beginner's guide to straight razor shaving - Straight Razor Place Library. Bot are great resources to start with and can give you days of reading. Let us know how it goes!
Welcome to the forum. Saskabush is kind of vague. My father was from a rural area just north of Yorkton. My wife is from Hudson Bay. There is a ton of information here, I suspect as a former lurker you already know that though.

Welcome to SRP. Make sure you get familiar with the beginners section in the Library & also in there, you can learn to strop, so make sure you learn how to strop right so that you don't dull your razor. First of all make sure your first shave is a good one since many claim they are selling a shave ready razor but really won't. If it tugs or pulls & is uncomfortable, it isn't sharp & you will need to send it out to a respectable honemeister. Look in the classifieds here & you will find someone to send your razor to. Lynn & gssixgun are two of the better people to use for these services. It would be a good idea to get you a second straight for when you send one out to be honed. Meanwhile you can be learning how to hone also & eventually buy your own hones to sharpen your razors with & you won't have to send them out anymore to be sharpened on ce you learn to hone & strop yourself.

Welcome aboard! This site is a haven for straight razor purists. I started using a straight four years ago and haven't looked back. It took me quite a while to master the beast, but I'm not exaggerating when I say it is one of the most enjoyable things I do. Thanks again yall for the warm welcome. Life has been busy here of late. I work for Purolator Courier and since the last week in November it has been total madness in the parcel business. Over the last few months I've been gathering a few SR's to work on a learn on. Get em back to their former glory, hone them and use them. Some I plan on keeping and some I will pass onto others. Time will tell.
I will try to be an active member here. I'd like to make a project journal to keep up with progress, ask questions, and to show off my nooby skills.....lol

I have picked a few more W&B and some other Sheffield straight razors.... I am still planning on working on the one W&B some of the guys said the it was a crappy reground. ( You know the background on that).... I did start sanding on it some...... Looks a lot better.... Going to take my time with it and the others. I will want advice on to which one or ones to send out to get a pro job on them in the future. Val does some great work from seeing the ones he done of yours.

A couple of them I am liking the shaves off of...... Dubl Duck special #1, C.V.Heljestrand # 24, Joseph Allen & Sons Non XLL, and a "Wade, Wingfield & Rowbotham" Straight Razor. I'm enjoying all these. I can't wait til I get to use the Sheffield SRs.
