Hello SRP, I'm new to this site and I have a lot of questions for everyone. Just decided today to change the way I shave. I'm excited for this new journey and a bit overwhelmed with all the information out there. I'm looking forward to posting and getting feedback.

Being new myself I know the feeling of being overwhelmed. Look forward to seeing your feed back. The best advise I can give at this point in my straight shaving career is take is slow and listen to the senior members, they know from experience what they are talking about.

Please avail yourself of the Library and the the FAQ as a way of immersing yourself in the art of straight razor shaving (or Double Edge or Single Edge shaving). A slow start and careful preparation for the first shave and fairly good mastery of the process is essential before you contemplate honing your own razors. There are many good Mentors and pro honers that can make sure your first razor is shave ready. That is unless you got it from SRD or other valid sellers that do hone all their razors before sending them out.
As there are stars in the sky there are that many opinions on "the way to go" when shaving. You need to read and decide for yourself what suits your style and works for your beard type and growth and skin, sensitive or not.
A razor, a brush, a good soap or cream and a decent strop are your first essentials. Razor maintenance and stones for honing are the reward you can give yourself after you have mastered a decent daily shave.
Read and ask questions. The mentors and older members are here to help you succeed.
