I have been wet shaving for going on a year now and love it! Ya know they say this kind of shaving saves us money, well not for me! I bought out this local Barber of almost all his old razors and have now moved into the Relm of Straight Razor Shaving.So far so good. A couple nicks is nothing but the chance to learn a new skill that will hopefully save me money in the long-run. But who am I kidding, I love to collect razors, and if I can shave with them its more than just fun.Attachment 185144Attachment 185145 Its a passion! I used to shave about once a week or once every two weeks but now my Gf wont even let me go 2 days without a shave. I have spoiled her with a smooth face. But thats ok, my freinds always look horible and Im always clean shaven, trust me the ladys like it better.

You're straights are nice but that's a really great set of Gillette DEs. I think you need to add a "psycho" razor to your collection. Google for it if you haven't heard of them already.

I have already been thinking about a Gillette Psycho razor for the collection but am not so sure about getting one from the bay. There have been a few on there that i want but ive never gotten anything from there yet. I need tips on getting stuff from there. My Gf has been screwed over on the bay a couple times so that has kinda prevented me from it.

Almost forgot can useing a nicked strop damage your blade? I had not learned how to use it yet and kinda screwed it up pretty good on both ends tward the middle.

Welcome! Looks like you do pretty well without the bay! Nice pile! Put on a pic of the strop damage.

A mild nick/scratch will not really affect the blade. Post a pic and we can help you determine how bad it is. That being said, welcome to SRP! I can't wait to see what you collect when you start learning to hone :).

Some fine wet/dry sandpaper to smooth em out is about all you can do. Little flappers can be superglued down, but all the superglue must be sanded off. Might work well enough to work long enough to get you through the strop-nicking stage?

Hi and welcome. I would try to sand it first. Just make sure that you get sny sanding residues off or any remaining grit can damage the blade edge. Good luck trying to save money, very few of us have.

I know a lot about the bay. I have 3661 100% positive feedback so if you need to know anything, please feel free to ask. Another thing you could use on your strop is rubber cement because it is pliable.

Your strop looks like a typical beginner strop. Just sand out the rough spots and put off replacing it until you stop cutting it. Unfortunately, you probably rolled the razor's edge doing the damage, so you might need to check the razor and send it out for a rehone. You can practice with a butter knife without damaging your strop.

If you sand it, wash the wet dry paper really well and set it between magazine pages to dry. under pressure. That way, little or no grit is transferred to the strop when you sand,
600 should be sufficient.
