Tally ho! Straight Razor user from the UK
Hello everyone,
My name is Neil, I'm a young guy with a horseshoe style tash from the North East of England, the sunny place :)
I first got into old style straight staving in March this year with a Bluebeard's Revenge shavette. After several massacres I found that it gave a nice shave but was so unwieldy and prone to nicks that I'd keep practicing but maybe shaving twice a week to let my face heal.
November, I bought a Baurmann 4/8, an 'Azuma' kamisori with a Norton 4k/8k combo and a 3" Invisible Edge leather only strop, plus just added a c12k to my regimen. I had never used a strop or waterstone before, neither items were shave ready or able to cut arm hair. As it stands, my Baurmann is what I'd call shave ready and I'd happily shave with it... my kamisori? It's shave-okay... I use it for touch ups or awkward areas but it's not quite 'right' for me just yet but that will come.
I was also gifted a 2/8 or 3.8 Fermarud which has a chip in the shave blade. Over time I'm slowly working it out and looking to grab a decent 1k stone for knives/fixing up chips in blades (which is another thread). Currently awaiting a second kamisori, an early Christmas gift from a rather eccentric but dear friend who decided to bid low amounts on random kamisori and eventually won one :D No idea what I'll get but that's kinda exciting!
Not sure what else to add here so I'll give a lowdown :)
Razors: Baurmann Solingen 4/8", "Azuma" kamisori, Fermarud Solingen (2/8 or 3/8), awaiting a random kamisori
