Welcome. Check our library. Tons of info
Hi and welcome. First off send it to a pro for honing to make sure that it is truly shave ready. While you wait check out the library and the beginner's areas and by the time you get it back you should know enough to make a good start.
Hello, DrNo. Welcome to Straight Razor Place!
Welcome. There are a lot of friendly and knowledgeable people around here. Tons of information too. I agree that the best place to start is with a proper honing. You will need to get a strop too.
Welcome to SRP.
Welcome to the forum.

Welkom. We love to see pics. Motto on SRP: if you have no pictures it did not happen. :)
I will let it happen
even though I bought one do not change my determination to actually MAKE one myself.
I bought it to use , and to actually know how it should feel to hold it.( In my 47 years , I never held or seen one up close )
there is one thing that prevents me to do it.,,
I have NO access to a blacksmith forge , and I can't afford to rent space.
I don't need training ,
well,,,
although it is more than 20+ years since I've done any forging work ,
I am confident I can do it
so I have to ask around.
anyone know of hospitable blacksmiths in the Utrecht area?
(as you have understood, I'm not Dutch.)
