Hi Everybody
Hi all. I'm glad to be here. Been straight razor shaving/collecting for about 4 months now and am enjoying the process very much. I have all vintage blades that I restore and use. I found a razor that I really like the look of but cannot find too much information on. It reads: 'Master Barber Crest' on one side, and 'La Salle-Empire-Rieder Co. Minneapolis. Minn. Made in Germany' I love the look of it and it shaves really well. Anyone have any info on this special looking one?

Welcome aboard rickpalisoc. There's a wealth of information here, especially in the Library. Just click on it & start at the beginning if you want to learn more. I will look in some books i have & see if I can find anything about it. it looks to be a very nice razor. All razors from Germany are of excellent quality!
Great to have you here.
Good luck my friend.

There was an Empire Knife Co from 1856-1930 & also Empire Razor with the same dates so they were associated but not from Minneapolis, Minn. There is also an Empire Knife Co, Germany, 1969. I have looked up Crest, La Salle-Empire-Rieder but nothing. I'll keep looking though. Perhaps Martin, Scienceguy or Zak aka Voidmonster will chime in & may have some more information on it. I have some things going on soon but like I said, I'll keep looking. You might try looking on Strazors website also. I have some other references to check also.

Welcome to SRP!
That's a nice looking razor.
Most likely the razor was made by a major razor company and rebranded to have the La Salle-Empire-Rieder name on it. Who made it? We may never know.

WOW, you guys make me feel so welcome! thanks for all your input. This was my latest restore and I'm really excited it shaves well as it looks. I think the metal inlays and scales make it look unique. There was no smell when i buffed the scales. Veining in the scales (as well as the slight fracturing patterns) makes me think that the scales are horn, but I have no idea. There is an area with a slight chatoyance which is really cool. I like my straights, and would like to post my collection. Some shave like a dream, some are a nightmare come true. Any specific place to put this on the site?
