    Default Hello from Cowtown!

    Good Morning All.

Jeff from Fort Worth, TX stopping in to greet everyone.

My introduction to shaving, oh so many years ago, was an old safety razor given to me by my father. I moved away from that to the "convenience" of electric, but was never satisfied with the shave. I just put up with it for most of my life. I finally went back to cartridge razors, but even that wasn't quite the same. I have always had an interest in straight razors, but until recently, assumed that they were a thing of the past, and that even safety razors were no longer produced, given the high volume, mass produced, disposable world we live in. It is very refreshing to find out that my assumption was incorrect. I feel very fortunate to have found this resource, as it has already proven invaluable, and I am sure that it will make researching the art of shaving much easier. Thank you, to all who are so willing to share your knowledge with others.

    Regards.

    Leatherstockiings, Engine46,

    Thank you, for the welcome.

My apologies, I did not mean to infer that I already owned a straight razor. I had my fathers old safety razor for years. Unfortunately, it was lost to time. I have perused the SRD website. That is actually what brought me here, to this community. I am slowly getting through the library and all of the beginners section. The Classifieds here are a very great temptation, as I already have an affinity for antique blades, swords and knives. I have practiced great restraint, so far. Mostly for fear of SWMBO. Actually, I really do want to research thoroughly, and know what I'm getting into, before I take the leap into straight razors. I'm sure that I'll become addicted and constantly be looking for the next high... er, um, I mean buy.

Thank you sir. Oh, believe me, I'm sure to have questions. I will, obviously, try searching first, but I am not too proud to ask for help. Might even beg and plead, depending on the situation.

Thank you, sir. I can understand the compulsion, and have read a few threads warning of the coming addiction. Though, a healthy dose of "wrath of the wife" is a good motivator to curb spending a bit.
