Default New to SR from Nottingham, UK

    Hi to everyone.

After 16 yrs of military service and using a variety of disposable razors I've decided to try the art of Straight Razor shaving.

I bought: - Artamis Straight Razor (Carbon Fibre Pattern) - Health & Grooming | Menkind

With this strop: - Men Rocks Leather Strop with Clasp - Classic Men's Shaving Accessory | Menkind

After watching a few videos I thought I'd take the plunge and go for a shave............no blood but also a fair amount of stubble left

Now I know it'll take time but can anyone give me some pointers.

    Thanks for any future info

If you're in Nottingham, you're very lucky to be close to one of the most knowlegable straight razor aficionados there is in SRP member Gary Haywood. His Barbershop is here ..

Hi and welcome. There is a possibility it is a razor shaped object and wont be any good but send it to a pro for assessment and honing if possible. Unfortunately with razors buying cheap usually means junk. Good luck and any questions feel free to ask

Hi and welcome, I,m in Nottingham it's probably not far from you? I live in mapperly and my shop is ten minutes from city centre.

I would think the razor is,nt top quality razor may or may not take a descent edge. Not to sure about the strop neither.

Pm me and I really don't mind spending the afternoon with you.

    Regards Gary

Welcome. I'd have a chat with Gary. Can't beat face to face.

Go and see Gary! It's gutting to be told you may have spent money on the wrong things. I've got some spare soaps and things lying around that you would be welcome to, to ease the blow and a brush. Your best shot of making this work is going to see Gary!
