Another Hi from Colorado
I went back to traditional wet shaving last summer after many years with carts and electrics I really got into vintage Gillettes, as well as single edge injectors and Gems. Then I got intrigued by straight razors, so I picked up a vintage "made in Germany" razor branded by Fred W. Albrecht Barber Supply in Akron along with a cheap strop. The razor was supposed to be shave ready but, of course, it wasn't when I gave it a try a few weeks ago. Not a fun experience! :dropjaw: Fortunately, I had already planned to go to the Colorado meet up yesterday. I feel very lucky to have met some great guys there, was able to get my razor shave ready (thanks bluesman 7!), make sure my strop was ok, and pick up a second razor.
My first real shave was this morning. I tried two passes on the cheeks, one on the neck, and then cleaned up with an open comb Gillette New. I have a lot of practicing to do, but there was no blood and my face feels terrific.
I'm sure I'll be back with lots of questions, but this seemed like a great start.
