    Default Hi from Montreal

Hi, I'm Joel from Montreal. I'm just getting into wet shaving, and really into learning more about it!

I'm using a Merkur 34C HD safety razor at the moment, learning all about my face and hair (as well as good prep work), but hope to make the move to a straight razor within the year. I'll definitely be looking for tips and any info I can get my hands on.

I've been shaving for almost 25 years now, and I can't believe I didn't get into this sooner. Until I got the safety razor, I used to hate shaving - now I look forward to it. I imagine it'll be even better with the straight razor!

    Welcome to SRP!

I think all of us have asked the question of "Why didn't anyone tell me that cartridge razors suck?" Easing in with a safety razor is a great way to start.

If you have any questions, just ask, we are here to help.

+1 on the, "... why didn't we learn about this sooner?!", deal when it comes to Wet Shaving.

Last year I got my Dad (late 60's) a Birth Year DE/Gillette Super Speed and asked him about shaving when he was younger and he said he learned on and used a DE initially then Plastics/Disposables became "High Tech" and he just got away from them. Seems strange to me but makes sense

Welcome to SRP!! Enjoy the shaves and the journey!

    Welcome fellow Montrealer.

As many here, I followed the same path, the DE was the gateway drug to the Straight Razor.

If using a DE is like buying fresh organic produce from the market, using a straight razor is like growing it yourself. There is a much more pleasure and satisfaction in it.

    Enjoy!
