Thanked: 0Got the bug!!!
It started as an itch, and when the scab formed and I picked it, it quickly turned into fully fledged RAD (repeated acquisition disorder)!
Yes after a bit of initial curiosity I decided to take the plunge and joined the open razor community and yes I'm a newbie and have the scars to prove it!!
I initially bought a shavette to stick my toe in the water which I think was a mistake in hindsight, but have now taken the plunge and have acquired both a relatively new Boker Edelweiss and vintage Rawson Brothers (which from the pictures looks not too bad but will need some work). I will probably enjoy trying to give it a new lease of life.
Lots to read here I'm sure and much more blood to spill before I'm fully proficient! I'm sure it will be fun though.

Welcome to the forum! I'm with you, I think the shavettes are a mistake too. Unless you consider the Feather's a shavette - cuz I really like the Feather's.
Look forward to hearing how you get on - again - welcome.David

Welcome to SRP!
I started with a shavette and still use it for one shave a month. They just take time to learn and the right blade.

I also started with a shavette. I'm GLAD I did too!
They are MUCH less forgiving and if you can shave with one of those a straight is EASY.

G'Day and welcome to the insanity.
I did things the other way round and got a shavette after using a cut-throat for a few years - just to see what the fuss was about - now I use it instead of my DE.
