Howdy folks. Wanted to drop in to say hello before posting stupid ?s.
Born and raised in NJ but please don't hold that against me. To be honest, until very recently I never gave shaving a second thought, it was just something you did. Like many I just used whatever I could get locally...basic disposables or when I remembered I would buy Track II cartridges to use with my old Track II based handle (very nice, heavy and long custom Track II based handle received as gift some 25 years ago). I even stopped using canned foam shaving cream and was using plain old ivory soap lathering up with my hands. :gaah: . As you can imagine, my morning shaves were somewhat less than a satisfying ritual. Then last year while waiting for the wife and daughter to finish their clothes shopping I wandered into a well known "Artistic" shaving store to kill the time and was blown away by what I saw. People actually buy this stuff and pay this kind of money just to shave?
Long story short, I started reading about wet shaving supplies and decided to start slowly with some quality supplies while keeping my trusty old (and honestly, well liked) fancy Track II setup. That lead me to try Proraso shave creams, Taylor of Old Bond St., good badger brushes, lesser known after shaves and pre-shaves, and focused on taking my time and preparing well and enjoying it. Wouldn't you know it I actually started shaving more often and looking forward to it.
So there I am and here we are. Still using the old Track II handle and cartridges but about to take the next plunge, hence me being here.
Questions to follow but for now thanks for having me and good day to all.
